| The "Be Easy"
arts/music festival. Heres the lowdown, this festival was conceptualized
with a good friend of ours, Jason, who has since joined the Mofoz
family...officially so to speak. We sat down and traded ideas about
what we can do to create a lil stir in our alma mater's backyard.
Of course we threw in the ingredients of some bangin' regional hip
hop, as well, as top shelf art from our friends all over TX....all
FREE and open to the public at a park right by the river.
So, essentially what we had in mind is a a big party for the city
of San Marcos and students of TX State University (...although it
will always be Southwest Texas to me), but almost selfishly more
importantly, we made some calls to the trues from the old school
and brought together a gang of heads from San Marcos' years past.
Big ups to all that came from Houston, Corpus, Austin, ...even Chicago.
we appreciate the continued support.

Well, that was the concept, next comes the roll out...We'd be lying
if we didnt say that we were sweating just a lil' becuase of the
armgedoon type rain/hail that hit central TX the night before, and
the 70%chance of rain forecasted for that evening, but alas, we
were blessed with sunny skies and a chance do the damn thing in
San Marcos.
Everyone that touched mics was amazing-special shouts to Lower
Life Form, out the Houston way for blazing a set, and taking
full advantage of the wirless mics we had available, by weaving
in and out of the crowd and hyping the place up. Sun of Sultans
tore through an amazing rock set, and even had one of their band
members come off tour from Chicago to fly in for this event...now
thats whats up.
Zeale 32--what can we say, him and Phranchyze did what they do so
well-raised the bar for heads in the game.
Last, but not least The Word Association held it down like none
other as they went through their new song catalog, as well as gems
from Omari Kamau's CD, Asymetry. Th Word Associates are taking o'er
this year, believe that.

Not only did the Emcees hold it down but the 1's and 2's were maneuvered
masterfully by DJ Stillness (Austin); and DJ Scuba who was promoting
the hot new mix cd entitled "Interesting Blend" and Tech-neek
of the mighty mighty Prhymemates
organization out of San Antonio (GO SPURS!!!).The art was on point,
as we had many vendors selling merchandise from shirts to sculptures,
to spray paint--much love. All the graf writers did an amazing job
and sent a lot of happy festival goers home with a canvas big enough
to wrap a few walls.

Seriously, this festival was on point and we look forward to coordinating
more in the future, but we sure as hell could not have done this
without support from our co-presenter Scion who supplied a rig,
"Hip Heaven Lounge", that had more electronics than some
small Circuit Citys, ya heard.

Also we would be crazy not to thank the Texas State University
Hip Hop Congress who helped to strongly promote this event on campus;
big ups also go out to Adio
Footwear, Gomi
Kitti...who for you graf heads now carry Belton paint and accessories,
D'Blazios pizza, and ME TV and Dru Fay for showing up to film their
video show, SMASH, also big ups to Team Scion eyed, and my main
man DJ Mik One for being a part of the party.
Special thanks to Debbie at the San Marcos City Parks and Rec departmenmt
who was a big help in making sure all i's were dotted and t's crossed. Thanks
to all for coming out-it ws good to see soo so so many familiar
faces having a good time and mixing it up, po'uring it up and getting
up.
good times...
