Well, ATX....seems we wrecked shop on Dec.3rd oh5.

Between the help of our friends the Superstar DJ's, Prhymemates, Table Manners Crew supplying some noise and the stunnings visualz brought to you by Mofoz' Marc Zuazua, Shek One (LAWS, PW, Muertos), Lucas Negrete, illego (PW, Muertos, TKO), and Rockstar Rick Osborne (Hypnotized Monkey) the night was due to be a success.

The weekend started off with the Mofoz crew crashing in on the Superstar DJ's monthly open DJ studio session, the Scratch Carnival. This was off the chain- we strongly encourage all DJ's to show up and cut something. We ran into Mosa and Killa Kut who came through the 512 by way of Houston to show off a lil turntable shenanigans. Good times.

The crew had to dash out early, however, to flier the hell out of Austin for the next days art show.

Saturday crept on and came up (yeah, thats our ode to Bone Thugs), and with that we met up with Fahad at Motive 807 to revamp his store a lil bit for the nights festivity. Special thanks to RW, Lucas, Monica and Juan for co-curating the event-we couldn't had made it look like we were doing without ya. The paintings were hung over the shoes with care, and also beside them...and on some custom installation hangers, the windows, and every other nook and cranny of the shoe store.

The art was in place the beer was on ice and the music was turned on. yup. Superstar DJ's with the help of the Prhymemates' Scuba took turns on the decks spinning some soothing soul, fortified funk and golden age hip hop.

The crowd started moving in early...as most of these pics were taken. Hater magazine joined the affair, Michigan-made emcee Justin Bardic made an appearance, Red Eye and family dropped by, B-Boy City's L-Boogie even snuck her head in before all was said and done. We even had an appearance by Austin graf kings SLOKE, and Jsen, visited by rock band Sun of Sultans, and Dreaded Photo (who took some magnifolous pics like always-click here to check them out.) Maaan, we were even blessed by SuckaRepellants' Alexa who happened to be in town ... and subsequently featured the art show on her blog page. thanks. We had folk come from College Station, Houston, Corpus Christi, San Antonio, San Marcos...and even our friend Jake, who now lives in some state we can't quite recall, made a a rare appearance.

Bottom line is, with the help of our friends and family-we showed Austin what it means to be Souled Out. Special thanks to Rick, the Superstar DJ's, Lori and everyone else who donated some pics for this review...

enjoy the rest of the page.

...no true party should be without an afterparty, and by the time we were winding things down at Motive 807, the Table Manners Crew was already providing background music for Austin's premier b-boys and b-girls at Plush with their weekly Saturday set, "Live and Direct".

These DJ's are no joke, they have been holding down the Austin hip hop scene for a little longer than a little bit, and definitely showed the crowd why that night.

Can't quite recall how that evening ended, which means we must have done something right. It was definitely comforting and encouraging to see so many great creative minds in one place at one time. We should do this again sometime.....how bout on Saturday, December 17th at Premium Goods in Houston, TX--where we will have all of the Austin shows artistss works, as well as new works from Joe- B, BBC, Article, Soup (LAWS), and Jsen. As well as DJ's Killa Kut, Remix, and Joe B. The unofficial afterparty will be at the Museum of Fine Arts where BBC will be hosting the Beats of Basquiat dance party and art exhibit.
