Aww yeah- the atmosphere at #’s was hot...literally, as the growing crowd waited for the underground legends MF Doom and Talib Kweli; sweat almost immediately built up by the time Houston’s own, K-Otix took the stage.
K-Otix led an impressive set that definitely turned some heads. The duo held the stage presence of crafty veterans, that knew how to both entertain a crowd, and stir a buzz.
The still building crowd was in full anticipation of MF Doom, the man behind the mask. The lyrisicm of this MC is first rate, however, his stage show left something to be desired. It’s not that it was a bad show, but, I’m in serious doubt that he made any new fans from it. The sound seemed muffled, and his lyrics were drowned out by a crude bass.

Talib freestylin' for Houston
By the time Talib took the stage, it went from hot to DAMN hot, but the energy of Talib almost made you forget about the sauna of a club. Talib freestyled over the Kanye West produced, Get em High, as the audience approved with “oooh’s and Ooooh shit’s”
Kweli was amazing, and even shared stage with local b-boys and b-girls who wrecked for a good while. Talib went through a catolog of his popular songs and surprised everyone at the end of the show with a song that sampled The Beatles’ Eleanor Rigby, which had many singing along with the chorus. These kind of dynamics makes you wonder what this Brooklyn born MC has in store for his next album.
